How can I convert my school-based Scrible account to a personal account?

Transitioning Your Scrible Account after Graduation

Are you graduating or switching schools soon? If you initially set up your Scrible account through your school or organization, you might be wondering what happens to your account when your institutional email is no longer active. Here's a simple guide to ensure you retain access to your Scrible data.

Adding a Personal Email to Your Scrible Account

To keep using your Scrible account without interruption, add a personal email address before your school or organization's email account is deactivated. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Sign in to your Scrible account.
  2. Click on your name in the upper right corner, then select 'Settings'.
  3. Under the 'Account' tab, find the 'Add Email' button and click it.
  4. Enter your personal email address and click 'Add'.
  5. Check your personal email inbox for a verification email from Scrible, and click the link provided to confirm.

By adding a personal email, your Scrible account will continue as a free Basic account after your school email closes.

Note: Please be aware that documents stored in Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive linked to your Scrible account won't automatically transfer. You'll need to download these manually from Google or Microsoft.

Setting Up a Password for Single-Sign-On Users

If your account was set up through an organizational account for which you use SSO to log in, you'll need to create a new password:

  1. Still in 'Account Settings', scroll past the 'Email' section to the 'Authentication methods' section.
  2. Click on 'Create Password'.
  3. A popup will appear asking you to create and confirm your new password. Once done, click 'Create'.
  4. This new password will be essential for accessing Scrible once your school-provided Google account is deactivated.

Considering Upgrading?

For those continuing in education or needing robust research tools post-graduation, consider upgrading to Scrible Edu Pro. At $35/year, Scrible Edu Pro offers enhanced features such as multiple libraries, advanced citation tools, extensive annotation options, and more to support your academic or professional research needs.

We hope this guide helps you transition smoothly and maintain access to your valuable work on Scrible.
