Canvas Administrators: How to Set up New Canvas Integrations for Scrible

Scrible has released two new integrations with Canvas: assignments and sections! 

The new assignments integration will allow teachers to create, edit, and distribute assignments for Scrible directly in Canvas. This will eliminate the need to create assignments in both platforms, as well as the need to sync classes. Teachers can now avoid duplicate work and save time!

The sections integration will allow teachers to sync sections of new classes from Canvas to Scrible. Currently, Scrible only receives course level enrollment data from Canvas (e.g. all students in English 9 port over as 1 large English 9 section). The new integration now allows Scrible to bring over section level enrollment data (e.g. English 9 Period 1, English 9 Period 2, etc.). This will allow for easier assignment distribution in Scrible. 

To enable these new integrations, Canvas admins will need to update the developer key for Scrible in Canvas. 

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Navigate to the Canvas Admin page and go into the top level account (unless you've added the key only in a sub account). Choose the Developer Keys from the left hand sidebar.
Find the Scrible key and click on the "Edit this key" pencil button
In the screen that opens, switch the "Method" to "Paste JSON" option
Open the following JSON in a new tab and copy the full text https://www.scrible.com/lti/canvas-lti.json
Then back in the Canvas page, delete the existing JSON and replace it with the copied text.
Press "Save" and you should be all set!
