How to push Chrome Extension and Google Docs add-on out to students for Google Apps for Education users

These instructions are for Google Apps for Education administrators to push the Scrible Chrome Extension and Google Docs Add-on out to students to avoid the need for teachers to take class time to guide students through the process of manually installing.


How to push the Scrible Chrome Extension to Chrome

As of 9/25/2020

  1. Sign into Google Admin https://admin.google.com/AdminHome
  2. Click on “Devices” from the “Admin Console”.
  3. Choose “Chrome” from the left side bar.
  4. Click on “Apps & extensions”.
  5. Click on "Users & browsers".
  6. Click on the "+" button in the bottom right corner and choose the "Add from Chrome web Store".
  7. Enter "Scrible Toolbar" in the search field of the window that opens and click on the Scrible Toolbar entry.
  8. Click on the "+ SELECT" button.
  9. You should now be taken back to the screen from step 6 and see the "Scrible Toolbar" option in the list.  Change the dropdown from "Allow install" to "Force install". 
  10. Then click “SAVE” button at the top right corner of the screen.


How to push the Scrible Writer Google Docs Add-on to GAFE domain users.

As of 9/25/2020

  1. Sign into Google Admin https://admin.google.com/AdminHome
  2. Click on "Apps" in the Admin console.
  3. Click on "G Suite Marketplace apps".
  4. Click on "Add app to Domain Install list" link in the header area.
  5. In the new tab that opens, search for "Scrible Writer" and click on the "Scrible Writer" result.
  6. Click on "Domain Install" button.
  7. Click "Continue" on the confirmation.
  8. Accept the terms and privacy policy by clicking the checkbox and then click "Allow".
